PostSubject: You Can Do It [Cameron McCaffrey, John Doe]   Mon Apr 07, 2014 7:05 am

The 5'10 tall detective entered the precinct early that Monday afternoon. It was just 2:00 PM and Detective Thomas Allan had 2 more hours left on his shift. He had just returned from booking a criminal thug that he arrested the day before and now the averadge build man, with dirty blonde hair, headed to his desk in the pen office at the station.
The rest of his day would probably just be filled with doing all the paperwork that he hadn't done, yet. It was the kind of task he didn't like about his job, even though he couldn't have found a better job for himself. As much as his father had wanted him to become a Real Estate Agent and take over the Agency one day, Thomas didn't want any other job. Sure, he didn't get the luxury paycheck his dad got, but it was enough to live. He wouldn't want it any other way.

Letting out a small sigh, he sat down on the chair behind his desk and leaned back, looking over the not-so-busy precinct. There wasn't much going on right now, which was actually nice, because Thomas knew there were other times with this place was hell. Today it was rather quiet.
Close to his desk was a small TV that was turned on most of the time. Right now there was a recap of the latest news. First some new about some bad traffic accident and after that there was a small report about an announcement the Mayor made earlier this morning. PR spokesperson Cameron McCaffrey appeared on the screen and caught Tom's attention for a while. He had seen her on TV a few times already and there was something about this red-haired woman that just caught his attention every time.

A tiny, barely noticeable grin played around his lips watching the beautiful woman with the shiny red hair. Little did Tom know that he would meet her face to face just a few minutes later.

Cameron, or Cam to her friends, was sitting in her office at city hall, finishing up for the day. She had her red hair pulled back in a ponytail and was dressed in a cream colored blouse and slate grey pencil skirt. After finishing with her report, Cam got up and collected her things. She shut everything down, then headed out for the day. Cam got to her car, a sunset colored Ford Focus, and headed back to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend Sean. She didn't know what was going on with him as she drove to the building they lived in. Once there, she pulled into the parking spot that was for her and Sean's apartment.

Before getting out of the car, she noticed Sean talking to another guy. What the? she said to herself as she sat there. It was then she saw Sean passing a bag over to the other man. Cam gulped hard as she knew what was happening. She started the car up and pulled out, thankful that Sean didn't see her. Cam got out of the lot and drove the police precinct that was close to where she lived. Cam parked in the first open spot she found and went inside, asking to speak to a detective. "I need to speak with a detective, its important." she said in her Scottish accented voice, not knowing who she would meet.

A young man of just 25 years, about 5'8 with messy brown hair and warm hazel eyes, wearing a MDPD uniform was just about to leave the precinct when the beautiful red-head entered the station. He almost bumped into her on his way out. The young man, Officer Kevin Franklin, stopped in front of her. He didn't pay much attention to public figures so he didn't even recognize her. All he knew was that there was an attractive, red-haired woman who wanted to speak with a Detective.
For a few moments he just stood there, looking at Cameron in silence, admiring the view, before he snapped out of it and cleared his throat, putting on a professional face. It was obvious that Officer Franklin was quite new to the job.
"Anyone in specific that wish to speak to, ma'am?" he finally asked her. "What is it you want to talk about?"

At the same time, Thomas turned off the TV and looked down at some forms in a folder that he had to fill out. They were part of his report that he still needed to write for his last case that he just closed when he took this thug to booking. He let his mind replay the whole case and everything that he knew about it, while he picked up a picture of the doer and looked at it.
"That was rather easy" Thomas thought to himself, leaning back in his chair once again, staring at the picture while his mind replayed the moment he arrested this guy.

Cam watched as Officer Franklin looked at her, asking if she wanted to see anyone in particular. "I don't know anyone here, I just need to....talk to a detective." she said to him, staying strong, but it was clear that she was a bit rattled by what she has seen Sean doing. Cam didn't notice it but her hands were starting to shake, along with her knees. "Please, just...get me someone to talk to." she added, her voice raising a bit as she said that. Cam's Scottish temper was starting to show as she said that to Officer Franklin.

Officer Franklin sighed a little, when his second question was left unanswered. However, he did notice how shaken up the pretty woman before him seemed to be. He began to wonder what her story was, why she was here and what she experienced or witnessed that had her like this. She didn't seem to be the type of woman who was scared easily.
Kevin turned around and looked around the Squad room until his eyes settled on Thomas, the only detective who seemed to be free to talk to right now. Turning back to Cameron, Officer Franklin gave her a friendly smile.
"Alright... over there, sitting at the desk close to the TV. The blond man with the plaid shirt." he said to her, pointing over to where Thomas was sitting. "That's Detective Allan."

Just after Officer Franklin said that, Thomas looked up from the picture in his head, still leaned back in his chair. He looked into the room, obviously thinking about something. He didn't really see anything, because he wasn't paying attention. However, he would soon enough.

Cam nodded, then walked over to where Thomas sat. "Detective, I was told that I could talk to you." she said to him rather quickly. Cam watched Thomas as she stood there, feeling her knees shake at the same time, but she didn't care. Cam glanced around the place after saying that to Thomas, waiting for him to reply to her comment.

Back at the apartment, Sean didn't know that Cam had seen him with his buyer. At the moment, he was sitting in the front room waiting for her to come back home. He didn't know that she was with the police and that he would soon be arrested.

Snapping out of his thoughts when he heard a very familiar voice, Thomas looked up at the female with the bright red hair standing in front of his desk. He recognized her the minute he saw her. Putting the picture of the criminal he just arrested down on his desk, the detective got up from his chair and offered his hand in a formal greeting. He wore a red, black and white plaid flannel shirt, the sleeves rolled up and the first button undone, revealing a little more of his neckline. To the shirt he wore black dress pants with matching shoes. His dirty blond hair was a little messy, but not more than he wanted it to.

"Good afternoon." Thomas greeted Cameron, who looked even more beautiful now that he saw her in person. Not that he ever thought he would. However, he hid the fact that he actually liked what he saw behind his professional face and behavior. He offered Cameron a friendly smile, but the fact that the young woman seemed upset, rattled even, wasn't lost on the observing detective. "How can you help you, Ms. McCaffrey?"

Cam was a little surprised that Thomas knew her, but she remembered that her face is on TV alot. focus Cam she said to herself as she stood there while shaking Thomas's hand. "Can...can we talk somewhere privet?" Cam asked after pulling her hand back, she didn't want to say what she knew in front of many other people. After pulling her hand back, Cam brushed a strand of her hair back, reveling more of her face while watching Thomas.

Thomas kept a his professional face up, because that's what he was. He was on duty and this woman obviously had some kind of problem that she needed help with. Tom had no idea what it was that she wanted to talk about, but guessing from the way she spoke and the way she acted, it was something that she never expected she'd ever experience. Since he couldn't spot any bruises or cuts on her, he figured it wasn't domestic violence.
Maybe something from work? What else could it prossibly be?" Thomas thought, while he looked around the room for a moment and then spotted the empty interrogation room. It wasn't as nice as an office would have been, but it was the only empty room with enough privacy to talk.

"Uhm... sure. This way." he said, his voice calm and friendly. He touched the small of her back for a second, leading her to the empty room. Tom opened the door and let her walk in first. "Not very welcoming, but private."

Cam nodded, then walked into the room when Thomas opened the door for her. Her healed shoes clicked on the floor as she walked in. "Thank you" she said to him after turning to face Thomas again. Cam thought back to her training in judo and figure skating to calm herself as she stood there. She took a few breaths, thinking back to the last tournament she was in. focus Cam she said to herself. After a few moments, she was relaxed, though the images of what she saw were still in her head. Cam focused her attention on Thomas as she stood there, waiting for him to speak up while standing there. She wondered what kind of questions that Thomas would ask her and what would happen after she talked to him. She didn't know that Sean would find out and put her life in danger later on.

Thomas nodded a little, entering the room behind her and then closed the door. He noticed how she took a moment to compose herself. To him she seemed to be a strong woman who knew what she wanted, however a woman nontheless. Tom walked over to the small window that was facing the Squad room, looking at the things going on out there for a second, before he closed the blinds and added a little more to the privacy of the small room.
The light was turned on and in the middle of the room was a metal table with three chairs, a fouth metal chair stood in a corner of the room, opposite to the door. Tom walked over to the single chair standing at the table and pulled it out, then looked up at Cameron again.

"Please, have a seat." he told her, his voice still calm and professional. Yet he was still wondering what had a beautiful, yet tough woman like her worked up as she was right now. No matter how hard he tried to think of something, the right thing didn't come to his mind. He would be surprised to hear what she would tell him. But at the same time, he'd be taking a long-sought drug dealer off the streets, someone that Tom had unfinished business with from about two years ago. But even Thomas wouldn't know what this Sean was capable of.

Cam nodded and sat in the chair in front of her. "I was coming home from city hall and saw my boyfriend Sean passing drugs off to a friend of his." she said to him in a direct and to the point tone. Cam locked eyes with Thomas as she said that, seeing the look on his face. It was clear to her that he knew she was rattled. Though she was, Cam kept her cool, knowing it wouldn't help for her to freak out on Thomas while they were talking to each other about what she had witnessed a few moments ago.

"Huh... straight to the point without even having the chance to sit down." Thomas thought, a little surprised about the way she handled herself in here. He certainly hadn't experienced anyone talking like that right away. Especially not when it was something personal, like this turned out to be. But he wasn't surprised about the boyfriend part. A beautiful and smart woman like wouldn't be single for too long.

Pushing the thoughts out of his head, Thomas focused on the task at hand, processing what Cameron just told him. Sean.... that name rang a bell, but without a last name he couldn't place him at all. Who knew how many criminal Seans were out there. He needed a little bit more than just the first name and that he was her boyfriend. But at least Tom knew why she was so shaken up about it. Who would want a criminal boyfriend? Especially in her position and especially a woman like her, who obviously was classy. Another thought that Thomas pushed out of his mind for now. He didn't have the time to think about it now anyway.

"And you are absolutely certain that it was drugs?" Thomas asked him, professional and calm as he always was. At least when he was on duty. She'd probably get angry for this question, but Thomas had to ask. After all, he could have passed something different to his friend, he didn't know if Cameron really saw everything as clearly as if she was standing right in front of him. The fact that she was here now, talking to him, made him think that she wasn't so close by, otherwise her boyfriend would have spotted her and she wouldn't be sitting here right now.

Cam nodded in reply when Thomas asked that. "Yes I'm sure.....and I never knew what he was doing. All he told me was that he was an art dealer." she said to him, honesty in her voice. "How could I have not seen it?" she asked out loud as she sat there, clearly embarrassed that she had done this. Cam sighed, then reached up and undid her ponytail, letting her red hair fall around her shoulders. Cam looked back to Thomas after doing that. "His full name is Sean Watkins, I met him not long after I finished at university." she said to Thomas, knowing that he would need his full name if he were to go forward with an investigation. "I'm not sure if there is anything else I can give you." she added while sitting there.

PostSubject: Re: You Can Do It [Cameron McCaffrey, John Doe]   Wed Apr 09, 2014 6:01 am

Upon realizing that he was still standing in front of the table, listening to what Cameron had to say, Thomas eventually sat down on the chair across from her. He leaned in a little bit, resting his elbows on the metal surface of the table in front of him, his light steel blue eyes settled on Cameron's. He couldn't help but notice the look in her beautiful greenish-blue eyes as he was listening to what she said.

At first, he was a little surprised that she was this certain about the drug dealing her boyfriend had supposedly done, but as soon as he heard the full name of Sean Watkins, Thomas didn't need any more information. The look on the detective's face changed a little. He knew this guy all too well and truth be told, he had some unfinished business with him. He had been close to arresting him two years ago, when he suddenly dissappeared, dropped off the face of the earth so it seemed.

Thomas hadn't heard from or of him in two years, the thought that Sean might be dead had crossed his mind more than once. However, he was surprised that Cameron chose someone like Sean to be her boyfriend. He remembered that he never treated women very nicely, but he was probably playing an act for Cameron. Still, he felt sorry for the young woman before her. This guy was nothing that a beautiful woman like her deserved.

"Say no more." Thomas told her, leaning back in his chair again. His eyes still settled on Cameron, he gave her a comforting look. How could she know? Some people were just good at fooling others. And Sean had always had a weakness for redheads. "I know him."

A gentle look on his face, Thomas leaned in again and gently touched her hand with his. It wasn't her fault, she couldn't have known what Sean was doing. People like him were careful with what they were doing. She shouldn't be blaming herself for anything, nor beat herself up about it. After all, she did the right thing and came to talk to him. That was more than any other woman would have done right away. "Don't beat yourself up about this. You couldn't have known. We don't look for those signs or things when we fall in love." he said in a gentle, comforting tone. "You did the right thing and came here right away. That's more than any other woman would have done. Most would have waited much longer, snooping around themselves first."

Cam watched as Thomas sat and said that to her, clearly surprised that he knew who Sean was. She nodded a bit when Thomas said what he did to her, making a note to break up with him. Cam looked down when she felt Thomas touch her hand, she couldn't help but smile a little. "I can be the snooping kind." she said off the cuff after looking back at Thomas. She saw the comfort in his eyes and smiled a little at him. He's attractive.....focus Cam, remember why your here she said to herself. Cam sat up in the chair, keeping her eyes on Thomas as she did. "What will happen next?" she asked while sitting there and looking at the detective in front of her.

Thomas, watching Cameron's reaction, noticed the small smile on her face, that appeared when he touched her hand. He couldn't help but smile back a little. It was more a reflex, a reaction to her, than it was consciously planned. It just happened, not that he minded much.

Pulling his hand back from her, Tom rested his elbows on the table, looking down at his hands for a just a second. "A beautiful woman like her and a guy like Sean... what did he do to get her? She's way out of his league... hell, even mine..." Thomas thought, but then quickly pushed that thought aside, focusing. He was a professional, he had to keep his personal feelings out of his job and he was good at separating business with pleasure. That had always been his policy and besides, right now Cameron would be vulnerable and he wasn't the type of man to take advantage of that.

"Well... I've been looking for him for a long time. I got close to arresting him two years ago, but then he just disappeared." Thomas replied, looking up at Cameron again. "Now, I can't just show up and arrest him. I need probable cause. However, your coming here and reporting what you saw gave me enough to look into it."

Procedures and rules... sometimes he cursed them. But no matter how much he hated them, he still had to act according to these rules. What kind of cop would he be, if he broke the rules himself? However, it wasn't too bad this time. He would send Cameron home, asking her to act normal around Sean, so he wouldn't suspect anything. Then he would observe him, carefully of course, so he would get the chance to catch him in the act and arrest him. Tom knew, that they wouldn't get a warrant to search Cameron's apartment, but if he arrested Sean, he would. And hopefully he would find tons of prove there, when the time came.

"Ms. McCaffrey... I want you to go back home and act like nothing happened. Just until I have enough to arrest him." Thomas explained in a gentle, but professional tone. "I need time to observe him and hopefully catch him in the act, so I can arrest him. That works best if I know where to find him. I take it he's living with you?"

Cam nodded in reply when Thomas said that to her, then fixed her hair back up into the ponytail that she had it in. "Okay and yes he is" she replied before sighing a little. She knew that she would have to make up a story and that it would have to be good in order to throw off Sean and keep him from thinking she had been at the police station. "I won't be with him after he is arrested, but whats to stop his pals from coming after me or my family?" she said in reply while watching Thomas as she said that. Cam didn't want to leave Miami and go into witness protection or anything like that. Though she was staying strong, that concern showed her on her face.

It would kill my family if I had to leave she said to herself while sitting there. Cam looked away from Thomas and at her hands, which were starting to shake again. As she looked at them, a tear fell across her cheek, which she felt and quickly whipped away. Cam sighed a little, then looked back to Thomas after doing that.

Observing as he was, Thomas noticed the slight changes in her behavior. Of course these questions would come to mind and he noticed that she was worried. Not only about herself, but her family as well. And Tom didn't blame her. It was just a natural instinct to worry about those you care about. Tom would probably do the same if he was in her shoes.
Well, he was in her shoes a lot of times, being a cop and an undercover cop, too. He always worried that something might go wrong and his family might be in danger, but he had learned to put it aside and focus on what he had to do. His family as well as his close friends knew the job he had and the dangers that came with it. Still, none of them turned their back on him. For that Thomas was very thankful.

"You needn't worry about that now, Ms. McCaffrey. As long as he doesn't suspect you of anything, you and your family are safe." Thomas told her, his tone comforting but certain. "And even after he's arrested, I don't think your family's in danger. Nor you. He's just a small fish of drug dealer and certainly no criminal master mind. He might throw threats at you, but he never acted on any of them. Believe me... he's threatened me more than once."

While Thomas wasn't a 100 % certain that Sean hadn't changed for the worse, it wouldn't do any good to let her worry. For now she needed to think that nothing would happen to her. She had to keep her facade up, otherwise Sean would suspect that she knew something she wasn't supposed to know and that would make things a lot harder for everyone.

Cam nodded in reply when Thomas said to her. "Thank you detective....is there anything else you need from me?" she asked while watching him. Cam didn't know if she could leave or if there was anything else that Thomas needed. She really wanted to get home, change and act like nothing had happened. However, she knew that she couldn't let Sean know where she had been. She didn't know that Sean would try to hurt her later on and that she would be forced to defend herself.

Back at the apartment, Sean was wondering where Cam was. He didn't know that she had seen him handing over the meth he sold a little while ago and was now meeting with the police.

Thomas gave Cameron a small, comforting smile, watching the pretty redhead for a moment longer than really necessary. However, Tom didn't let himself be distracted for too long. He was a professional after all. And that was something that his Chief was admiring most about him: he didn't let himself be played by a pretty female, like some of his colleagues did. He was mostly in control of himself, his feeling and most of all, his male hormones.

Like now. He softly cleared his throat, reaching into the front pocket of his plaid shirt and took one of his cards out. "No, that's all for now, Ms. McCaffrey." the 5'10, blond detective said to Cameron. Even though he didn't let it show at all, Thomas was a little bit worried about how she would cope with everything that happened and most of all, with what might happen and was going to happen. He knew that it took a toll on women like her if they were played by some criminal scum. Tom hoped that she would do okay.

Thomas got up from his chair and stood by the table, handing his card to her. "If you ever need me... my number's on here." Tom told her in a gentle tone. "Just give me a call. Anytime you want."

Cam nodded in reply when Thomas said that to her, taking the card at the same time. "Thank you" she replied before heading out of he room and back through the station. Once outside, Cam got to her car and drove back to the apartment her and Sean shared. After parking, she walked inside, seeing that Sean was gone. Thank goodness she said to herself while walking into her room and closing the door. Cam changed out of her blouse and skirt and into her grey lounge pants and a Miami University t-shirt. After changing, she walked out and to the kitchen, getting some wine for herself before walking into the front room to read the book that she had recently gotten.

As she sat there, Sean was meeting up with some friends of his, not knowing that Cam had met with the police about him and that he would soon be arrested.

Thomas walked Cam back into the pen office and then watched the pretty female leave. His steel-blue eyes were gently settled upon her back, until the door closed and Cameron disappeared from his view. He was thinking about what Cameron had told him and that he would soon meet his old nemsis Sean Watkins again. Oh, how long he had been waiting for a break like this, especially after all his long and hard undercover work, when he first met him. The fact that Sean disappeared shortly before Thomas had enough to finally take him down, was still upsetting him. Now he would get another chance.

Tom walked over to his desk in the pen office and closed the file he had just opened, deciding to finish his report later. He would be working long hours anyway. Ever since Stephanie's death, the precinct had become his second home and with nobody left to go home to and nothing but silence inside his apartment, he barely spend any time there. Even though it was a beautiful and expensive condo that his father gave to him. It used to be one of the apartments he used when he was working, it was his office once, but now he owned a small house in the city that held his office and also housed the office and workspace of an architect.

The young man with the messy blonde hair settled his eyes on a small picture that showed him and his late girlfriend. It was the only reminder he had left now and anytime he looked on her beautiful face in the picture, he smiled sadly. It still broke his heart that she wasn't around anymore. Especially since the case was never closed to him. With a heavy sigh he pushed the sad thoughts out of his mind and then opened a locked drawer on his desk. There were a couple of old case-files and some newer ones inside. His unfinished business cases. Thomas flipped through the files and quickly found the one he was looking for.

He needed to do some research on Sean Watkins and the case he had been working on when he first hunted him down.

"Won't let you get away this time, Sean... you just wait and see."

Back at the apartment, Cam had finished her wine.  The empty glass was on the table next to her as she continued to read.  After a while, she closed the book, then got up and walked to the kitchen, setting the glass in the sink.  After doing so, she walked back to the room her and Sean shared, laying on the bed after setting her book on the nightstand next to her. After laying down, Cam closed her eyes and dozed off.  She dreamed that she wasn't with Sean anymore.  She didn't want anything to do with him once he was arrested and in jail for what he had done.  As she laid there, Cam tossed a bit in bed as she dreamed.

Thomas spend about an hour sitting at his desk and reading the old case file. He remembered everything as if it happened just yesterday. Images of interviews and conversations were flashing through his mind, while he read the notes he made. Sometimes he replayed conversations and things he saw in his mind, leaning back in his chair and staring into nothing. The office got quieter, the longer he spend there. Less working detectives and officers were around during the night, which was a good thing, although sometimes this office was hell late at night.

"Gonna be a long night... I should get a bite to eat and head over to the apartment. Maybe Sean shows up..." Thomas thought as he finally rose from his chair and closed the file. He grabbed his coat from the backrest of his chair and put it on, then he took the case file with him and left the precinct. He quickly spotted his cobalt blue 1996 Dodge Viper in the parking lot behind the building. The setting sun was reflecting on the metallic blue paint, making Tom smile a little bit. He loved this car, especially since it looked exactly like the one from the old TV show. It was a beautiful car and he was proud of it and very protective. Nobody but him was allowed to ever drive the car.

The small smile still on his face, Thomas unlocked the Viper and got into the driver's seat. He put the case file on the passenger seat and started the engine. Oh, how he loved the sound of this car! Right now it was the only thing making him smile. Tom stopped by some drive-in restaurant and got something eat, before he drove to the apartment building that Cameron McCaffrey lived in. He parked at a spot where he could observe the building and the entrance very well, but wasn't easily detected himself. Normally he'd take a car from the carpool for an operation like this, but tonight he didn't feel like it. He needed the comfort of his own car. Especially since he was probably spending the night in it.

Sitting in his car, Thomas ate his small and not-so-healthy dinner and kept the building under close watch, waiting to spot Sean Watkins.
